In 2009 Ruth Laxton managed the Faculties of Excellence Initiative - the pilot of a new Learning Management System,  Blackboard 9.1, at the University of New South Wales . Blackboard was piloted in 18 courses across UNSW Faculties. The project involved managing a team of instructional designers who trained and supported the academic staff, developed online support materials for staff and students and evaluated the pilot.
